Thread: Blank Caller ID

  1. #1

    Lightbulb Blank Caller ID

We have a number of PSTN / FXO lines that do not have Caller ID on them.

It would be nice if the caller ID information for thost lines could be populated with say the "PSTN Number: " field in the FXO settings page, so that the display on the phones is not so IPish some find it ugly.

It could be setup so that If the FXO line is set not to expect caller ID, it should insert something. "From PSTN1"

    What do you think?

Currenly it is possible to show something on incoming PSTN calls that hasn't CID enabled. Here are ways to do that.

    1. Enable Distinctive Ringing feature for all incoming PSTN calls on the receiver extenson (PSTN -*) and fill the desired Nickname in the Disctinctive Ringing Settings page, which will be shown as a caller name.

    1. Route all PSTN calls to Routing and in the corresponding rule use Filter option to set a name.

Uh my understanding is if you route all calls to call routing it may open a whole that people can use your Quadro to Route calls.

Your assumption is not correct - there is no such security risk when routing PSTN calls to Routing Table.

Probably you are talking about other option connected to Routing Table. Although such risk exist when "Send AA Digits to Routing Table" option is enabled on AA, it can be easly compensated by configuring a filter on routing rules. For more details about this option and other security things please get familiar to the document "Preventing Unauthorized Calls on the Quadro" which can be found on Epygi website.

Try this quick trick.... see attached picture

This will work well if you send the calls direct to a MERg.

Just remember to point the fxo that doesnt have CLI via the call routing to the extension you created with the inbound prefix changed so it displays the name etc accordingly. You can even name the MERg which does a similar thing to the inbound prefix.

Default Show DND Status on watched extensions

I have a request from two of my 32x customers using Snom 320s and 370s and expansion modules to dispay DND status on watched extensions on the Snom buttons.

Currently Busy, Ringing and on hold are currently working well.

The epygi clearly knows the DND status on the extension and I believe the Snom phones can support a lamp indication to show the extension is in DND.

    What do you think.
