Thread: Loosing inbound audio

  1. #1

    Default

We have an Epygi Quadro2x configured with 8 Linksys SPA-941 IP Phones.

    Quite
often while on a call, the inbound audio will cut out for up to 10
seconds. The remote party can still hear us, but at our end it sounds
like the line has gone dead. After 10 seconds (or sometimes less) the
    inbound sound resumes.

All our phones, all quadro extensions,
and our ITSP providers are configured to use G729a as the preferred
codec. I've also tried disabling silence suppression on the G729a
protocol (under RTP settings) but this seems to have made no difference.

The Quadro is connected directly to our internet connection (bridged mode) so I don't believe the issue is to do with NAT.

    Does
anyone have any ideas what could be causing this issue? I figure there
are a number of places the problem could be occuring, either somewhere
between our IP phones and the Quadro (internal network), or between the
    Quadro and our ITSPs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Michael.

What firmware version are you running on your Quadro?

If you check the Call Statistics page, on the right hand column there is a call quality rating (and link). If you click on the link it can show you stats for the call includes number of lost packets etc. This may help you diagnose whether it is an local network or internet issue, as the latest firmware (4.1.33) shows the network stats separately for each call leg (phone to quadro, quadro to itsp).

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Matt

Thanks for the tip! I'm using 4.1.33, so I checked the link you mentioned (legend) and can see that I'm getting dropped RX packets from my ITSP. This might be something I need to take up with my ITSP.

I've attached a screenshot of the call stats for a dodgy call where inbound audio dropped out for about 10 seconds during the call. During this time the remote party could still hear me.
