Memory Stick Failure

We have a customer who has an Epygi 4x with a 4GB USB memory stick. The memory stick appears to have "gone bad" ( Epygi events log shows the stick being removed then detected several times even though the stick has not been removed) Has anyone ever seen a similar instance? And could the flash drive failing have an adverse effect on the epygi ( damage it)

I have found when there has been issues with power that sometimes the USB stick needs to be remounted..

Unfortunately it is a problem i have yet to find an answer for, but I think it is more to do with the underlying operating system ( linux ) than Epygi's code.
