Thread: Quadro Firewall

  1. #1

    Default Quadro Firewall

The answer to this question is likely to be a simple "no" but I thought best to ask anyway.

Is it possible to change timeout settings for the firewall built into the Quadro 2x.

    Thanks

If it is not possible to change the idle session timeout is there a way that I can find what the default/existing value is.

As you expected, the answer to the first question is "no" Quadro does not allow to change the firewall (conntrack) timeouts.

What refers to the second, the firewall on the Quadro is Linux-based firewall, and mostly has the default timeout values for the Linux machines. There are multiple timeouts values for the TCP sessions, depending on the state of the session (CLOSE, ESTABLISHED, CLOSE_WAIT, FIN_WAIT, LAST_ACK, SYN_RECV, SYN_SENT, TIME_WAIT), some timeout values for UDP sessions, and even some more for other kind of traffic. If you mean the timeout for the idle established sessions, then the current value is 5 days.

    Bestregards,
    David

5 days seems like a long time to timeout an idle session. I thought it would be closer to 5 minutes.

Well, the 5 days is the standard. Most people suffer from that timeout being too short

You can find such complaints in the web: they are about timed out SSH, telnet or FTP sessions...
Actually session being idle doeesn't mean it is not used.. or not supposed to be used after a day or so..
